Here’s to hoping Steve Martin performs his Only Murders in the Building patter song. The 2024 Golden Globe nominations have been announced and some of your favorite Broadway performers/writers have been nominated.
In the category of Best Director, Motion Picture; Bradley Cooper (The Elephant Man, 2014) is nominated for his direction of Maestro. Maestro told the story of American conductor Leonard Bernstein, who was also played by Cooper. Cooper has also received Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama nomination for his portrayal of Bernstein.
In the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama; Annette Bening (All My Sons, 2019) is nominated for Anatomy of a Fall and Greta Lee (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) is nominated for Past Lives.
In the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, Fantasia Barrino (The Color Purple, 2005) is nominated for the movie adaptation of The Color Purple musical in her role as Celie, and Emma Stone (Cabaret, 2015) is nominated for Poor Things in her role of Bella Baxter.
In the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy Timothée Chalamet (Prodigal Son, 2015) is nominated for Wonka in his role of Willy Wonka, and Jeffrey Wright (Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk, 1996) is nominated for American Fiction for his role as Thelonious "Monk" Ellison.
