Let's head to the circus! This morning, principal casting was announced for the previously announced Water For Elephants. The cast will be led by Grant Gustin making his Broadway debut, Isabelle McCalla, Gregg Edelman, Paul Alexander Nolan, Stan Brown, Joe De Paul, Sara Gettelfinger and Wade McCollum.

Additional casting to be announced soon.

Based on the bestselling novel by Sara Gruen, the new musical has a book by Rick Elice, a score by PigPen Theatre Co. and will be directed by Kimberly Akimbo’s Jessica Stone. The musical is set to start previews on February 24th, 2024, and will open March 21st, 2024 at the Imperial Theatre.

After losing what matters most, a young man jumps a moving train unsure of where the road will take him and finds a new home with the remarkable crew of a traveling circus, and a life—and love—beyond his wildest dreams. Seen through the eyes of his older self, his adventure becomes a poignant reminder that if you choose the ride, life can begin again at any age.

Water For Elephants features circus design by Shana Carroll (The 7 Fingers), choreography by Jesse Robb and Shana Carroll, scenic design by Takeshi Kata, costume design by David Israel Reynoso, lighting design by Bradley King, sound design by Walter Trarbach, projections by David Bengali, hair & makeup design by Campbell Young Associates, puppetry design by Camille Labarre, music supervision and arrangements by Mary-Mitchell Campbell and Benedict Braxton-Smith, orchestrations by Tony Award winner Daryl Waters, music direction by Elizabeth Doran, and fight direction by Cha Ramos.
