Stephen Sondheim’s OLD FRIENDS and EUREKA DAY Set For Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club Next Season

Bernadette is back where she belongs! This morning, it was announced that Stephen Sondhiem’s Old Friends will land on Broadway next spring at Manhattan Theatre Club’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre starring Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga. The theatre also announced Jonathan Spector’s comedy Eureka Day will make its Broadway debut in a new production directed by Anna D. Shapiro. 

Eureka Day follows a progressive private day school in Califorina when a public health scare puts a wrench in everyone’s plans as mumps slowly start to evade the school. The play is produced in association with Sonia Friedman Productions, Wagner Johnson Productions, and Seaview. Previews will begin November 25, 2024 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on Broadway. 

Hailing from London, Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends was a smash hit on the West End earlier this year. Musically staged and directed by Sir Matthew Bourne, the stage revue celebrating the beloved composer will begin performances March 25, 2025 following its North American Premiere at Center Theatre Group’s Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles from February 8 - March 9, 2025. 

Off-Broadway, MTC will produce Erika Sheffer’s Vladimir at New York City Center’s Stage I starting on September 24, 2024. Following a journalist covering Vladimir Putin’s first term in office, the world premiere is set to be directed by Daniel Sullivan. 

Further casting for all productions will be announced at a later date.
