It’s time for a revolt! The latest trailer for Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical has dropped ahead of its Christmas Day (December 25) release on Netflix. Check it out below, including snippets of “When I Grow Up” and “Revolting Children.”

The movie adaptation of the Tony-nominated and Olivier-winning musical introduces Alisa Weir as Matilda Wormwood opposite Oscar winner Emma Thompson as Miss Trumbull, Lashana Lynch as Miss Honey, Stephen Graham as Mr. Wormwood, Andrea Riseborough as Mrs. Wormwood, and Sindhu Vee as Mrs. Phelps.

Also in the cast are Charlie Hodson-Prior as Bruce Bogtrotter, Meesha Garbett as Hortensia, Rei Yamauchi Fulker as Lavender, Winter Jarrett Glasspool as Amanda Thripp, Andrei Shen as Eric, and Ashton Robertson as Nigel.

The film follows a young girl who begins studying at a new school, only to have her time there upended by the oppressive principal, Miss Trunchbull, and her unhelpful parents at home. She finds comfort with her teacher, the librarian, and her friends, as well as books all of which inspire ideas for payback and survival.

The movie was adapted by the musical’s Tony-winning book writer Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. Directed by Tony winner Matthew Warchus, the film is produced by Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan for Working Title, Jon Finn, and Luke Kelly of The Roald Dahl Story Company.

Matilda isn’t the only streaming project coming out soon to entertain theatre fans. Tyler Perry’s musical A Jazzman’s Blues, featuring Almost Famous star Solea Pfeiffer and choreography by Debbie Allen, began streaming September 23. The new season of American Horror Story, set in NYC and featuring Patti LuPone and Isaac Cole Powell, will drop October 19. As we head into the holiday season, there's Spirited, a new musical twist on A Christmas Carol from Pasek & Paul, will arrive in November. Finally, there's ABC's revamped presentation of Beauty and the Beast, starring H.E.R., Joshua Henry, and Josh Groban.
