Broadway Premiere Set for Britney Spears Jukebox Musical ONCE UPON A ONE MORE TIME
Oh, baby, baby! The Broadway premiere of Once Upon a One More Time, the Britney Spears jukebox musical, will play at the Marquis Theatre beginning with previews May 13. An opening night is set for June 22.
The musical follows a group of famous fairy-tale princesses as they search for a new narrative that embodies the feminist ideals of today. Among the well-known figures are Cinderella (along with new takes on the stepmother, stepsisters, and fairy godmother), Prince Charming, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, and Little Red Riding Hood, with several new characters as well.
Using songs like “Lucky,” “Toxic,” “Oops… I Did It Again,” and more, the show features an original story written by Jon Hartmere, set to songs made popular by the Princess of Pop herself.
Once Upon a One More Time is directed and choreographed by Keone and Mari Madrid. The Broadway creative team will include creative consultant David Leveaux, scenic designer Anna Fleischle, lighting designer Kenneth Posner, sound designer Andrew Keister, production designer Sven Ortel, and costume and hair designer Loren Elstein.
Casting for the Broadway premiere will be announced at a later date. The musical had a world premiere that opened in November 2021 at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., starring Briga Heelan, Justin Guarini, Emily Skinner, Aisha Jackson, Brooke Dillman, Ashley Chiu, Raymond J. Lee, Wonu Ogunfowora, Ryan Steele, Morgan Weed, Lauren Zakrin, Stephen Brower, and Michael McGrath.
