Dreamgirls is coming back to Broadway in Fall 2026 in the first-ever newly directed and choreographed Broadway revival. Camille A. Brown will direct and choreograph the new production, featuring book and lyrics by Tom Eyen and music by Henry Krieger.
Yes you read that headline correctly. It was announced today that a new musical comedy about Billy McFarland and the infamous Fyre Festival is currently in development featuring a book by Bryan Buckley, music by Paul Epworth, and scenic design by David Korins. Buckley is also set to direct. The new musical has an all-star producing team behind it including Academy Award winner Taika Waititi, Rita Ora, Matthew Weaver, and Hungry Man Productions.
The company will include Tony Award winner Danny Burstein, Christopher Lowell, Tony Award winner Cynthia Nixon, and June Squibb. Squibb will play the title role.
You only have two more weeks to hear the music play down at the August Wilson. Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club will end its Broadway run on Sunday, September 21. At the time of closing, the musical revival will have played 18 preview performances and 592 regular performances. Billy Porter will also withdraw from the production due to a serious case of sepsis, his doctors noting that he will make a full recovery.

Today, it was announced that incoming artistic director Lear deBessonet’s inaugural season will open with a new production of Ragtime starring Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, and Brandon Uranowitz, following their acclaimed run at New York City Center last year. The revival will begin previews on Friday, September 26, with an official opening night set for Thursday, October 16 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. The limited 14-week engagement runs through January 4, 2026.

Othello is Kimber Elayne Sprawl’s 7th Broadway show, but before this season she had never done a play here in New York City. An illustrious career that ranges from Beautiful to Girl From The North Country to Wicked, Sprawl has made a name for herself but she was ready for a new challenge. Enter Kenny Leon. After starting the season in the company of Home at Roundabout, Sprawl landed Emilia in the much talked about starry revival of Othello currently starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal. I recently sat down with Sprawl to chat about her connection to The Bard, transitioning into the world of plays, and her love of the New York Public Library. Today it was announced that six-time Emmy winner Jean Smart will return to Broadway in the world premiere of Call Me Izzy. A 12-week limited engagement at Studio 54 will be May 24 and run through August 17, 2025. An official opening night is set for June 12.
Today it was announced that James Graham’s Punch will play the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre as part of Manhattan Theatre Club’s 2025-2026 season. Directed by Adam Penford, the production will play this fall on Broadway.
Today it was announced that The Queen of Versailles will play the St. James Theatre this fall, with performances beginning Wednesday, October 8, ahead of an official opening night on Monday, November 10. Following its out-of-town tryout at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre this past summer, Versailles will reunite Kristin Chenoweth and songwriter Stephen Schwartz on Broadway for the first time since Wicked. Chenoweth will star as Jackie Siegel and F. Murray Abraham will star as David Siegel. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
