Acclaimed actor, comedian, and Las Culturistas host Bowen Yang will make his Broadway debut as the title role in Oh, Mary! Yang will take on the role for a limited 12 week engagement from Sept. 15 to Dec. 6, 2026. 

Earlier this week, it was announced that Geno Segers was set to join the company of Hadestown as Hades on September 1 at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Following the news, many took to social media calling out the casting as it appears that Segers has personally posted anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric on his own social media, in now deleted videos. Today, the producers of Hadestown released a simple statement: “The producers of Hadestown and Geno Segers have mutually agreed that Mr. Segers will no longer join the Broadway production. Additional casting will be announced shortly.”The new company will feature television and film star Jasmin Savoy Brown as ‘Eurydice,’ two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz as ‘Hermes,’ Tony Award nominee Amber Iman as ‘Persephone,’ and pop-rock musician and songwriter Kayko as ‘Orpheus.

On the heels of the record-setting box office success of the Hadestown live capture, it was just announced that a filmed version of the 2026 Broadway revival of Fallen Angels will be coming to cinemas this fall.

Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical has found its agents for the North American leg of its world tour.

Max Wolf Friedlich’s new play The Holes will premier at the Wild Project this September. The play will run for a strictly limited engagement from Sept. 8 through Oct. 18 with official opening set for Sept. 22 The Holes will be directed by Michael Herwitz and star Bubba Weiler, Grantham Coleman, and Tina Benko. 

The Real Ivanov, a 100-minute adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s first staged play, Ivanov, written and directed by Chekhov scholar Laura Strausfeld, is making its world premier at the Lynn F. Angelson Theatre this August. The production will have a strictly limited engagement from Aug. 17 to Sept. 19, with official opening set for Aug. 25.

Specimen, a new play written and directed by Randall Sharp, is returning to Axis Theatre Company. Previews begin Oct. 28 with press opening set for Oct. 30, for a limited run through Nov. 21. 

The Flynn Center in Vermont will partner with the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize to Women+ on the Edge of Democracy, a civic initiative commissioning 36 prominent women+ playwrights, and counting, from around the world to write ten-minute plays or monologues regarding the state of American democracy. 

Schmigadoon! will release its original Broadway cast recording on Aug. 21. The album will feature the entire Tony Award-winning score by Cinco Paul and orchestrations and will be available for streaming on all platforms.

Another icon is headed to 44th Street. Today, 42 years since the legendary film premiered, it has been announced that the stage adaptation of Purple Rain is headed to Broadway. It will premiere next spring at the Majestic Theatre on Friday, March 12, 2027, before an official opening night on Monday, April 12, 2027. Minneapolis, 1984. A new era of music television is creating overnight stars. A magnetic young performer known as “The Kid” seems like the perfect frontman to lead his bandmates to stardom. But when his past threatens everything he's built, he’ll have to sing his way out of the darkness and into the spotlight where he belongs. 

This tight-knit family is back together once more. 10 years after the beloved Lincoln Center revival of Falsettos, the company will reunite for a one-night-only celebration of the William Finn and James Lapine’s celebrated musical on Sunday, October 18. 2026 at 7pm at the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. The revival’s stars, Tony Award-winner Stephanie J. Block, Tony Award-winner Christian Borle, Tony Award nominee Andrew Rannells, Emmy Award nominee Tracie Thoms, Tony Award-winner Brandon Uranowitz and Tony Award nominee Betsy Wolfe will all reprise their roles, with a special guest appearance by Anthony Rosenthal (the revival’s original ‘Jason’). Vadim Feichtner returns as Music Director and Conductor, conducting a band that includes most of the revival’s original musicians.

This Bohemian just can’t stay away. Today, producers of Moulin Rouge! The Musical announced that Tony Award-winner Aaron Tveit, who originated the role of Christian will return once more for a limited 15 performances from Tuesday, August 18, to Saturday, August 29 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Tickets are now on sale. Christian Douglas who is currently playing Christian will return for the final Broadway performance on Sunday, August 30, and those tickets are also on sale now. 

MLB veteran and recording artist José Iglesias, known to his fans as Candelita, will make his Broadway debut as the Narrator in Buena Vista Social Club beginning Thursday, August 27, 2026. Born in Cuba, Iglesias continues the production's celebration of Cuban heritage, culture, and music, joining the Tony & Grammy Award-winning Afro-Cuban band on stage that electrifies audiences nightly at Broadway's Schoenfeld Theatre on West 45th Street.

Today, producers announced that Cats: The Jellicle Ball will end its Broadway run at the Broadhurst Theatre on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Previews began on March 18, 2026 before an opening night on April 7. The show went on to win three Tony Awards last month including Best Direction of a Musical, Best Choreography, and Best Costume Design of a musical. The production will be filmed for the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive (TOFT) at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. 

Julia Lester will star in Hungry Women at the SoHo playhouse this summer. The play, which is written by Melissa Maney and directed by Danielle Caggiano, will run from July 23 to Aug. 30 at SoHo Playhouse, with official opening set for July 25.

We’ve Been Here Before: A One-Woman Musical written by and starring Lindsey Kraft will make its New York stage premiere off-Broadway for a two-week engagement from Aug. 4 to Aug. 17 at SoHo Playhouse. The musical was created by, written, and stars Kraft, with music direction by Ben Folds.

For anyone who watched Owning Manhattan Season Two on Netflix, this announcement feels very special. Real Estate agent Chloe Tucker Caine (who I profiled last year) will make her Broadway debut in Six as Anne Boleyn beginning August 17 2026. Stephanie Jae Park who starred as Eliza in Hamilton will join the company as Catherine Parr. They both join the company through February 14, 2027 at the Lena Horne Theatre. 

From one Diva to the next, the St. James is staying booked! Today, it was announced that Dolly: A True Original Musical, a remarkable journey through the life of this trailblazing woman, will come to Broadway this winter with tickets going on pre-sale starting tomorrow, July 8 at 10am ET at dollymusical.com Previews are set to begin Monday, December 7 at the St. James Theatre on West 44th Street before an official opening night which will take place on Dolly’s 81st Birthday on Tuesday, January 19, 2027. Casting and other details will be announced at a later date. Dolly: A True Original Musical features music by Parton that includes some of her iconic hits as well as new songs she has written especially for the musical, a book by Parton and two-time Emmy Award winner Maria S. Schlatter, and is directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher.

Twelve Years. Three Hotel Rooms. One Goal. It was announced today that John Donnelly’s The Pass will have its US Premiere in a new production directed by Max Hunter. The play will begin performances on Thursday, July 30 at La Mama, with an opening night scheduled for Monday, August 3. The show will play a limited five-week run. The play premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2014. A hotel room in Eastern Europe, 2014. On the eve of their first Champions League match, two rising British football stars find themselves facing something neither preseason training nor media coaching could prepare them for.

It was announced today that SNL alum Chloe Troast will write and star in the new theatrical experience Pepper Slit: Live In Her Living Room directed by comedian Sam Blumenfeld. This four week engagement will begin performances at the East Village Basement on Tuesday, July 21 with an opening night set for Thursday, July 30. The cast for PEPPER SLIT will include Sam Blumenfeld, Tej Khanna, Gus Laughlin, Jamie Linn Watson, and music director Charlie O’Connor. Surprise special guests will be announced shortly. Pepper Slit’s theatrical experience blends music, nostalgia, and delusion into an unforgettable comedy spectacle. Each night, only 35 guests are invited to the stage and screen legend, Pepper Slit’s personal home to experience a night of party and performance that New Yorkers thought was outlawed back in ‘71.

Last week, producer David Binder announced that François Arnaud, David Corenswet, and Yvonne Strahovski will star in a new production of Richard Greenberg’s Three Days of Rain directed by Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro beginning February 2027 at a Shubert Theatre to be announced. This revival is a sharply funny drama that unfolds as a mystery about inheritance: what parents leave behind and what children discover years later. The play was last seen on Broadway in 2006 in a starry revival which featured Paul Rudd, Julia Roberts, and Bradley Cooper.

Fresh off their Tony win for Ragtime, Lincoln Center Theater under the leadership of Artistic Director Lear DeBessonet has announced her second season programming LCT and boy is it filled to the brim with exciting productions that has something for everyone. On Broadway, LCT has announced two productions at Vivian Beaumont Theater including the first-ever revival of Aaron Sorkin’s A Few Good Men, starring Bradley Whitford and Tom Blyth, and directed by Tony winner Michael Arden. In the spring, deBessonet will direct the first Broadway revival of The Sound of Music in nearly 30 years, starring Tony nominee Jasmine Amy Rogers and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli. The new season at the Mitzi E. Newhouse commences this summer with the previously announced The Whoopi Monologues, directed by Whitney White and starring Dominique Fishback, Kecia Lewis, Danielle Pinnock, Kerry Washington, and Kara Young. The season continues this fall with August Wilson’s Seven Guitars, directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, who won his first-ever Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in the 1996 Broadway premiere of the same play. Following is the American premiere of Playing Burton – a play by Mark Jenkins about the legendary Welsh-born actor Richard Burton, starring Welsh-born actor Matthew Rhys. The final play of the season at the Newhouse is world premiere of Born in the Dirt, reuniting playwright Kimberly Belflower and Tony winning director Danya Taymor in their first collaboration since the sensation-causing, and Tony Award nominated, John Proctor is the Villain on Broadway. 

Earlier today it was announced that Jocelyn Bioh’s hit play School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play, which will be directed by Tony nominee Whitney White, has found its company. The play, which premiered Off-Broadway at MCC in 2017 will land on Broadway at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre beginning Tuesday, September 8, and open Monday, September 28. The production will feature Lucia Aremu, Tony nominee Denée Benton, Tony winner Patina Miller, Theatrely31 alum Erin Morton, Nia Otchere-Sarfo, Jordan Rice, Jasmine Amy Rogers, and Heather Alicia Simms. 

This Pride Month, The House of Xtravaganza is throwing the Love Is Imagination Pride Mini Ball in partnership with TSQ LIVE giving us a first look at Xtravaganza, a new original musical inspired by the legendary House and Ballroom pioneers. The event takes place Wednesday, June 24, from 5-6pm in Times Square at 46th Street and Broadway. The event marks a major milestone for the production. Tickets officially go on sale beginning June 24, 2026, for the world premiere engagement of Xtravaganza at Baltimore Center Stage, where the musical will open in May 2027. 

Pass the Pepperoni! Today, it was announced that Mystic Pizza: A New Musical will launch a national tour this September starting at the Clemens Center in Elmira, New York. Based on the beloved movie classic that launched Julia Roberts’ career, this sparkling musical depicts best friends Kat, Daisy, and Jojo’s search for love and self-identity as they face life’s many unexpected twists and turns. Packed with chart-topping ‘80s and ‘90s hits, this new musical celebrates Mystic, Connecticut’s iconic pizza joint like never before. Mystic Pizza is based on the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Motion Picture with Story and Characters by Amy Holden Jones. The musical is written by Sandy Rustin (The Cottage) with Arrangements and Orchestrations by Carmel Dean (The Notebook). 

2:22 — A Ghost Story has set its New York Premiere this fall at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. The play begins previews on Oct. 20, with official opening on Nov. 5, and will play a strictly limited engagement through Jan. 17. 

Todrick Hall’s original musical Midnight will make its New York Premiere at the Daryl Roth Theatre this fall. The production begins performances on Sept. 12, with official opening on Sept. 27. It is set to run for a strictly limited engagement through Nov. 1.
