Max Wolf Friedlich’s New Play THE HOLES Premieres at The Wild Project This Fall

Max Wolf Friedlich’s new play The Holes will premier at the Wild Project this September. The play will run for a strictly limited engagement from Sept. 8 through Oct. 18 with official opening set for Sept. 22 The Holes will be directed by Michael Herwitz and star Bubba Weiler, Grantham Coleman, and Tina Benko. 

The Holes is set in a decaying bar in a rapidly gentrifying city upstate, where a padlocked back room offers pleasure, relief, and perhaps something far more dangerous. A chilling dark comedy about the great wars shaping our future, the play sets shame against desire, tradition against progress, and community against individualism.

Friedlich is best known for his breakout success from his critically acclaimed play JOB, which premiered Off-Broadway at Soho Playhouse in 2023 before transferring to Broadway’s Helen Hayes Theatre in 2024. 

The creative team for The Holes includes scenic designer Anna Grigo, lighting designer Evan C. Anderson, sound designer Brandon Bulls, costume designer Lily Cucinelli, creative director Stefan Kohli, marketing strategist Ian Tarbert, publicist Ava Tunnicliffe, head of socials Vincent Perella, graphic designer Julian "the Brainwave" Alicea, general manager Mix and Match Productions, and production counsel Jenny Waxman. Getts and Rodner produce alongside co-producers Cathy Sarkowsky, Alex Levy, Elizabeth Salem, Jeff and Caryl Hahn.
