We’ve got some good luck; the critically-acclaimed play starring George Clooney, Good Night, and Good Luck, will be streaming live on CNN on June 7 at 7 p.m. It marks the first time a live performance of a play has ever been televised.

“I can’t tell you how exciting it is to do something that’s never been done,” Clooney said. “CNN is the perfect place to bring this story of courage to so many more people than we could have ever hoped. Live TV. No net. Buckle up everyone.”

Good Night, and Good Luck, based on the 2005 film of the same name, tells the story of broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow and his on-air battle against Senator Joseph McCarthy’s anti-communist agenda in the 1950s. The production has shattered box office records and was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Actor in a Play for Clooney.

The live stream will feature the show in its entirety, as well as pre-show coverage outside the theatre and an exclusive Good Night, and Good Luck special afterward to discuss the production and the state of journalism internationally.

Good Night, and Good Luck will conclude its run on Broadway with a matinee on June 8, making the live stream its final evening performance. Its run has shattered box office and become the highest-grossing play in Broadway history, and the first play to surpass a gross of $4 million in a single week.

Good Night, and Good Luck is not just a celebration of a golden age in TV journalism,” said Chairman and CEO of CNN, Mark Thompson. “It’s also about the importance of the free press and the need for strong news organizations to report the facts in a fair-minded way. That’s something we still care deeply about.”

Good Night, and Good Luck is in performance through June 8 at Winter Garden Theatre in New York City. For tickets and more information, visit here.
