Life does imitate art. Or maybe art imitates life? Tony and Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris will return to Broadway this fall alongside Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale, and Tony and Emmy winner James Corden in the first ever Broadway revival of Art by Yasmina Reza.

Art itself takes centerstage in this sleek comedy — taste, money, ego, and other fine arts, that is. The play was originally written in French and translated to English by Christopher Hampton. It premiered on Broadway in 1998 and won Tony Award for Best Play that same year.

The production will be directed by Scott Ellis, who has been nominated for the Tony Award for Best Direction nine times and is currently represented on Broadway with Pirates! The Penzances Musical. It will begin previews on Aug. 28, 2025, with an official opening on Sept. 16, 2025, and play a limited 17-week engagement at the Music Box Theatre through Dec. 21, 2025.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on May 30 at 10 a.m. A fan pre-sale will begin on May 29 at 10 a.m.

Art tells the story of three middle-aged men, Marc (Cannavale), Yvan (Corden), and Serge (Harris) whose relationship is tested when Serge buys an incredibly expensive modern painting: a white canvas. What starts as a debate over the merits of modern art quickly spirals into something deeper as the three old friends unearth long-buried tensions and deep personal insecurities. Their friendship is put to the test in this exploration of ego, taste, and loyalty.

“Ever since I first saw the original production, it has been etched into my mind as a hysterical and moving portrayal of friendship, compromise, and the power of art to change perspectives,” producer Michael Shulman said in a statement.

Art begins previews August 28, 2025 at the Music Box Theatre in New York City. It will run through December 21, 2025. For tickets and more information, visit here.
