Amy Berryman’s WALDEN Will Be Final Production At Second Stage’s Tony Kiser Theater This Fall
Today it was announced that Amy Berryman’s Walden has been added to Second Stage’s Fall season. Directed by Whitney White, and produced by special arrangement with Seaview and Soto Production, the play will begin previews at the Tony Kiser Theater on Wednesday, October 16 before an official opening night on Thursday, November 7. The previously announced Lunar Eclipse has been moved to spring 2025 to accommodate a change in Reed Birney’s schedule.
In the near future, Stella and her fiancé, Bryan, are waiting at their remote cabin for Stella’s estranged twin sister, Cassie. Raised by their astronaut father to be NASA scientists, the twins have taken different paths: Cassie has just returned from a successful moon mission, while Stella has left NASA behind. When they reunite, old conflicts reignite, forcing the sisters to choose between staying on Earth or pursuing a future in space, as humanity’s fate hangs in the balance.
It was announced earlier this year that Second Stage will be leaving the Kiser Theater by the end of 2024 due to unfavorable lease terms. The company will rent Off Broadway space this spring as they search for their new home.
Casting and the full creative team will be announced in the coming weeks.
