Anti-Vax Protest Outside First Night of St. James Theatre for SPRINGSTEEN ON BROADWAY

A large group of anti-vaxxers showed up outside the St. James Theatre Saturday night before the first performance of the New Jersey native’s Springstreen on Broadway to protest Jujamcyn’s guidelines for entry. 

The 1,710 seat venue is the first of the Broadway houses to reopen following the extended closure due to COVID-19. According to an FAQ page on Jujamcyn’s official website, “Guests will need to be fully vaccinated with an FDA or WHO approved vaccine in order to attend...and must show proof of vaccination at their time of entry into the theatre with their valid ticket.”

Protestors showed up shouting and carrying signs that read, “Bruce Springsteen is for Segregation on Broadway” and “We Demand Equal Rights,” as ticketed patrons entered.  

According to attendees, some protestors started yelling sentiments of Nazi Germany while police stepped in to break it up. Many fans of The Boss looked on, some in horror while others laughed and commented back as they waited for their tickets to be scanned.

Once inside the theatre, vaccinated patrons are permitted to remove their masks once seated. 

Springsteen is the latest rockstar to be targeted by anti-vaxxers. According the the LA Times, dozens of protestors appeared outside a Foo Fighters concert last week.‍
