Brody Grant to Depart THE OUTSIDERS This Fall
He’s stayed gold. Brody Grant will take his final bow as Ponyboy in The Outsiders on Sunday Sept. 21. New casting for the role has yet to be announced.
Grant made his Broadway debut with the production, earning Tony and Drama Desk nominations for his performance. He originated the role in the pre-Broadway world premier at La Jolla Playhouse in 2023 and has participated in key workshops during the show’s development.
The Outsiders won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Musical, along with Best Direction of a Musical for Danya Taymor, Best Lighting Design of a Musical, and Best Sound Design of a Musical. It was nominated in 12 total categories, including a nomination for Grant for Best Leading Actor in a Musical.
The Outsiders features a book by Tony Award nominee Adam Rapp with Tony Award winner Justin Levine, music and lyrics by Tony Award nominees Jamestown Revival (Jonathan Clay & Zach Chance) and Justin Levine, music supervision, orchestration & arrangements by Justin Levine, choreography by Tony Award nominees Rick Kuperman & Jeff Kuperman.
Based on the critically acclaimed 1976 novel of the same name, The Outsiders tells the story of Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade, and band “outsiders” as they battle with their affluent rivals, the Socs.
