This is Shakespeare fans Eras Tour. Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal will take the stage to star  in Shakespeare’s Othello. This Broadway revival will play in the 2024-25 season. Washington will take on the title role of Othello and Gyllenhaal will play the role of Iago.

Kenny Leon will be directing this production of Othello which plans to open sometime in the spring of 2025.

This will not be Washington’s first time with the Bard having been in Julius Caesar On Broadway; he also appeared in Coriolanus and Richard III at the Delacorte during the New York Shakespeare Festival. This will be Gyllenhaal’s first professional Shakespeare production in New York.

Leon is a  common collaborator with Washington having directed him in the 2010 revival of August Wilson’s Fences and the 2014 production of Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun
