We are about to have a lot of joy this summer! As previously announced, a musicalized new work based on the true story of inventor and entrepreneur is headed Off-Broadway this summer in Joy The Musical. Broadway favorite Betsy Wolfe stars as Joy and Mauricio Martinez is set to star as Tony in the new production. From single motherhood and financial struggles to building a business empire, Joy’s story epitomizes the power of resilience and determination, an inspiring celebration of a woman who never gave up and redefined the American Dream!
Directed by Lorin Latarro with choreography by Joshua Bergasse, the company includes Jill Abramovitz, Adam Grupper, Honor Blue Savage, Charl Brown, Gabriela Carrillo, and Paul Whitty. Producer Ken Davenport wrote the book to the new musical with music and lyrics from AnnMarie Milazzo.
Previews are set to begin on Saturday, June 21 at the Laura Pels Theatre, with an opening night set for Sunday, July 20.
