Jake Pedersen Will Be Broadway’s New Boq in WICKED
Lemons, and melons, and pears, oh my! It has been announced that Jake Pedersen will join the Broadway company of Wicked as Boq beginning Monday, August 14.. Michael Wartella will play his final performance as Boq on Saturday, August 12.
This isn't Pedersen's first visit to Oz! Pedersen previously played Boq on the Wicked National Tour earlier this year. Other theatre credits include Parade on Broadway and the Escape to Margaritaville National Tour.
Jake joins Alyssa Fox as Elphaba, McKenzie Kurtz as Glinda, Jordan Litz as Fiyero, John Dossett as The Wizard, Tony Award winner Michele Pawk as Madame Morrible, Kimber Elayne Sprawl as Nessarose, and William Youmans as Doctor Dillamond.
Long before Dorothy arrived in Oz, many things had already transpired. There is a woman with green skin who is bright, fiery, misunderstood, and gifted. When she meets a vivacious blonde who is extremely popular, their initial animosity transforms into the unlikeliest of friendships.
Based on Gregory Maguire's novel, the the 4th longest-running show in Broadway history with over 100 international awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, as well as a book by Winnie Holzman. Tony Award winner Joe Mantello directs the musical, which features musical staging by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento.
