Phillipa Soo and Steven Pasquale To Lead Encores! Production of HIGH SPIRITS At New York City Center
Phillipa Soo and Steven Pasquale will lead New York City Center’s Encores! production of High Spirits running Feb. 4 to 15, 2026. The real-life couple will bring their chemistry to the roles of Ruth and Charles in the rarely revived Tony-nominated musical.
After their performances in the 2022 production of Guys and Dolls at the Kennedy Center, this is Soo and Pasquale’s first time performing together in New York. They can also be heard together as the co-narrators of the hit Audible original romance Rich Girl Summer by Lily Chu.
Pasquale has previously performed at City Center in The Wild Party and Assassins. He is best known for his roles as Scott in American Son and Robert in The Bridges of Madison County. Soo is best known as the original Eliza in Hamilton, and has been seen in the recent Broadway revival of Into the Woods as Cinderella, the title role in Amélie, and Camelot as Guenevere.
High Spirits is directed by Tony Award winner Jessica Stone, with Encores! Music Director Mary-Mitchell Campbell leading The Encores! Orchestra. The production features choreography by Ellenore Scott. Adapted from Noël Coward’s beloved comedy Blithe Spirit, High Spirits hasn’t been heard on Broadway since its 1964 debut.
It follows novelist Charles Condomine and his wife Ruth, whose marriage is upended when the eccentric medium Madame Arcati unwittingly conjures the ghost of Charles’s late first wife, Elvira. Chaos ensues as the spectral Elvira proves to be a mischievous — and invisible — rival for Charles’s affections.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Oct. 21. For more information, visit here.
