With just over 40 days until the election, now is the time to make sure you are registered to vote, and Broadway is here to help. Romeo + Juliet starring Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler, which beings previews this Thursday, September 26, at Circle in the Square Theatre, is teaming up with Voters of Tomorrow, a Gen-Z led organization working to turn out young voters. Together, they are launching The Youth Are Voting, an initiative to boost voter registration and engagement ahead of the 2024 elections. The name plays off the show’s tagline, “the youth are f**ked.”

As part of The Youth Are Voting, Voters of Tomorrow will host weekly voter registration drives at performances, including the show’s first preview this Thursday, where attendees can register to vote and check their registration status. Voters of Tomorrow’s Gen Z team will also provide guests with relational organizing tools, empowering audience members to ensure their friends and family are also registered. Additionally, the initiative will include a robust, themed voter empowerment campaign across various social media platforms.

“We hope our production of Romeo + Juliet will bring many first-time theatergoers to Broadway this fall, and we’re thrilled to partner with Voters of Tomorrow to offer our audiences the resources to register and become first time voters in a very important election year,” said Director Sam Gold. “Romeo + Juliet shows how the choices of powerful adults affect young people in profound ways. After experiencing this story, I hope our older audiences are encouraged to reflect on the world they're building for the generations to come. And I hope our younger members are inspired by the power of individual action as a tool for collective change.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Romeo + Juliet to ensure young people make their voices heard at the ballot box this November,” said Voters of Tomorrow Executive Director Santiago Mayer. “Contrary to the show’s tagline, the youth are not ‘f**ked.’ We are more powerful than ever, and this election is our chance to shape the future.”
