SOME LIKE IT HOT Scores Big at 2023 Outer Critics Circle Awards
The winners of the 2023 Outer Critics Circle Awards have been revealed, with Some Like It Hot taking home five honors, including The Marjorie Gunner Award for Outstanding New Broadway Musical, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Broadway Musical for J. Harrison Ghee, and Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman for Outstanding New Score.
Leopoldstadt took the most awards for a play (three), with it winning Outstanding New Broadway Play, Outstanding Featured Performer in a Broadway Play for Brandon Uranowitz, and Outstanding Director of a Play for Patrick Marber.
Elsewhere, Fat Ham by James Ijames was awarded the John Gassner Award for New American Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play going to Topdog/Underdog, and Outstanding Revival of a Musical going to Parade.
Other performers honored were Alex Newell from Shucked for Outstanding Featured Performer in a Broadway Musical, Sean Hayes from Good Night, Oscar for Outstanding Lead Performer in a Broadway Play, and Jodie Comer of Prima Facie for Outstanding Solo Performance.
B.H. Barry of this season's revival of Lerner and Loewe's Camelot at Lincoln Center Theater was honored with the Special Achievement Award in recognition of his six-decade career as one of the world's foremost fight directors.
