SOME LIKE IT HOT'S Casey Nicholaw Wins Tony for Best Choreography
“Let’s Be Bad” ‘cause Casey Nicholaw has won another Tony Award! Casey Nicholaw has won the Tony Award for Best Choreography for Some Like It Hot. Nicholaw was crowned onstage at the 2023 Tony Awards at the United Palace. He beat out fellow nominees Steven Hoggett for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Susan Stroman for New York, New York, and double nominee Jennifer Weber for & Juliet and KPOP.
Nicholaw began his career on Broadway as a performer, making his debut in Crazy For You. He began choreographing on Broadway next with Spamalot and then began directing with The Drowsy Chaperone. He has worked on a number of Broadway shows as director/choreographer including Elf, The Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Something Rotten!, Mean Girls, and The Prom to name a few. Prior to Some Like It Hot, he had been nominated for 11 Tony Awards, winning once for Best Direction of a Musical of The Book of Mormon.
