VAPE! THE GREASE PARODY Opens At Theater 555 This Month
“Vape” is the word! Vape! The Grease Parody will launch a 10-week Off-Broadway run on Oct. 30 at Theater 555. Official opening is set for Nov. 3.
The musical, written by Catie Hogan & Sketchworks Comedy, with Lyrics & Additional Book by Billy Recce and Danny Salles, is a spoof of the iconic musical Grease. It pokes fun at all the wonderful moments, sexual innuendoes, outrageous characters, rivalries, and secret romances from the original. The hair products may have changed, but the drama, the rivalries, and the thirst for hallway clout remain timeless. It's the musical you know and love... but dragged through a cloud of strawberry-scented vapor and a TikTok filter.
Vape! will be directed by Jack Plotnick, who co-wrote and directed the hit musical Disaster! on Broadway. It features choreography by Ashley Marinelli, who has previously worked on Stranger Sings! The Parody Musical, and A Musical About Star Wars. Music supervision and arrangements is by Lena Gabrielle.
Casting and additional creative team will be announced in the coming weeks.
Murdoch: The Final Interview, which opened Sept. 28, continues its run at Theater 555 in a repertory schedule with VAPE! through Dec. 28.
