WATCH: THE MINUTES Is “Battle Royale for America’s Soul”
Audiences are in for a wild ride when they sit down at Studio 54 to watch The Minutes unfold. The 90-minute play, which unfolds in real-time, is a “battle royale for the soul of America,” according to star Noah Reid, who, along with the rest of the cast, spoke with Theatrely ahead of the show’s start of previews April 2.
Joining Reid on stage are Ian Barford, Blair Brown, Cliff Chamberlain, K. Todd Freeman, Tracy Letts, Danny McCarthy, Jessie Mueller, Sally Murphy, Austin Pendleton, and Jeff Still. Anna D. Shapiro directs.
“It’s such a collection of 11 great personalities and senses of humor and comedic abilities,” says Travey Letts, who penned the black comedy. The playwright wrote during the 2016 U.S. Presidential election cycle and follows a city council meeting as they deal with a newcomer.
“It lulls you in with comedy, but it asks a lot of questions,” adds Mueller. Which begs us to ask…has anyone seen the minutes from the last meeting?
