If you asked me what was one of my favorite experiences last year, I would have said The Voices In Your Head co-created by Billy McEntee and directed by Ryan Dobrin. Well those two are teaming up again for a new play for an audience of just five centered around a meal in a Brooklyn Home this fall.

Slanted Floors will play for an extremely intimate audience in an apartment in Greenpoint Brooklyn from September 9 - October 10, 2025. The production stars Lortel nominee Adam Chanler-Berat and Lortel and Drama Desk Nominee Kyle Beltran. No-fee tickets cost $55, include a meal, and can now be reserved here

Kaplan (Chanler-Berat) has a hard time separating the media he consumes from the gigs he works and the ideas he tries to execute. It’s all a stressful, funny dance, but his partner Teddy (Beltran) is coming home soon to serve a special dinner. You are invited to witness the surreal in one freelancer’s day, share in the meal of two partners dining, dishing, and dreaming, and behold the un-remarkability of queer domesticity.

The production team includes Jess Tsang (Chef), Nick Auer (Lighting and Sound Designer), Dan Kuan Peeples (Video Designer), Isabelle Chirls (Associate Director), and Damayanti Wallace (Stage Manager). Caitlin Bebb is Artwork Designer and McEntee is Producer.

“I gravitate toward plays that feel more like experiences, and that was a goal in crafting this piece,” said McEntee in a statement. “ Slanted Floors explores whether an artist’s creative ‘process’ can also be seen as a ‘product.’ The central couple contends with that, and other questions: what theatricality can emerge from sitting in an ordinary apartment? How can it transform? And how well do I know the person sitting across from me? I’m humbled to explore those questions with this cast, team, and Ryan.”

“To me, the beauty of theater is how it lets us investigate the way we interact with each other and figure out the humans who we spend time with,” Dobrin added. “By exploring an evening of conversation and dinner between a couple, this work offers an almost exhibitionist view into queer intimacy in the quietest and seemingly safest point in the night. Billy’s rich writing paired with brilliant performances from two of our most vital contemporary stage actors, mere feet from you, allow the audience to witness the subtleties of learning about your person in real-time.”
