GIANT Will Transfer to Broadway in March 2026
There’s a pretty big, massive, dare we say giant thing coming to Broadway this spring. The Olivier Award-winning play Giant will transfer to Broadway after sold-out runs on the West End and at the Royal Court Theatre. Performances begin March 11, and the production will run for a strictly limited 16-week engagement.
The production will star Tony and Olivier Award winner John Lithgow as Roald Dahl, with direction by Tony Award winner Nicholas Hytner and design by Bob Crowley.
Giant tells the story of world-famous children’s author Ronald Dahl, and the true story of the scandal that shook his legacy. It is written by Mark Rosenblatt, marking his debut as a playwright.
Hytner has won two Tony Awards — one for Best Direction of a Musical and one for Best Direction of a Play — and three Olivier Awards for directing. He was nominated for the 2025 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Director for his work on Giant.
Crowley has won seven Tony Awards for his scenic design for his work on An American in Paris, Once, Mary Poppins, The Coast of Utopia, The History Boys, Aida, and Carousel.
Lithgow is returning to Broadway for the first time since 2019. His career has spanned stage and screen, earning him two Tonys, six Emmys, two Golden Globes, four SAG Awards and two Oscar nominations.
"Being a part of Giant from its inception has been the most challenging and exciting stage experience of my career,” star Lithgow said in a statement. “The story takes place forty years ago, but it resonates powerfully with events of our present day. No play I’ve ever been in has had such an impact on audiences. I am so proud and honored to play this part.”
Tickets for Giant go on sale to the general public in October 2025. For more information, visit here.
