He doesn’t even go here… actually he does! Tony nominee Grey Henson will join the company of Shucked as a Storyteller when the new musical begins previews on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre on March 8. An official opening night is set for April 4.

Henson joins the previously announced John Behlmann as Gordy, Kevin Cahoon as Peanut, Andrew Durand as Beau, Caroline Innerbichler as Maizy, Ashley D. Kelley as Storyteller 1, and Alex Newell as Lulu.

The ensemble will feature Jimmy Brewer, Audrey Cardwell, Dwayne Clark, Rheaume Crenshaw, Jaygee Macapugay, Scott Stangland, Yasmeen Sulieman, and Quinn VanAntwerp. The swings are Miki Abraham, Ken Clark, Traci Elaine Lee, and Alan Wiggins.

Shucked features a book by Tony winner Robert Horn (Tootsie), a score by Grammy winners Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally. Directed by three-time Tony winner Jack O’Brien, the show will feature choreography by Sarah O’Gleby, along with music supervision, music direction, orchestrations, and arrangements by Jason Howland. The creative team includes scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Tilly Grimes, lighting designer Japhy Weideman, sound designer John Shivers, musical director/conductor Daniel Edmonds, and hair and wig designer Mia Neal.

The musical follows the residents of Corn Cob County as a crisis looms. In order to save their community, high school sweethearts Maizy and Beau put their nuptials on hold. When Maizy heads out to find someone who can help, she stumbles upon a local con man named Gordy who seizes a chance to solve a little financial problem of his own.
