Joshua Malina, Dave Register, More Join LEOPOLDSTADT
The producers of Leopoldstadt have announced several cast changes coming to the new play at the Longacre Theatre. The production is set to run through July 2.
Three new actors will join the cast beginning Tuesday, March 14. Joshua Malina (The West Wing) will take over the role of Hermann, and Dave Register (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) will join the company in the role of Fritz. Cody Braverman joins in the role of Young Leo. Ali Rose Dachis will also join the company as an understudy.
There will also be three changes within the current cast. Company member Jesse Aaronson will take over the role of Leo, in addition to his current role as Aaron; Charlotte Graham will assume the role of Nellie; and Sarah Killough will perform as Eva.
Current cast members Arty Froushan, David Krumholtz, Caissie Levy, and Tedra Millan will play their final performances on Sunday, March 12.
Set in Vienna, Leopoldstadt takes its title from the Jewish quarter of Vienna. The play begins in the last days of 1899 and follows one extended family deep into the 20th century.
The Broadway production opened at the Longacre Theatre on October 2. The play first opened in London’s West End in January 2020 but was interrupted due to the COVID-19 lockdown a few weeks later. In late 2021, it returned for another sold-out engagement.
Directed by Patrick Marber, the production features scenic design by Richard Hudson, costume design by Brigitte Reiffenstuel, lighting design by Neil Austin, sound and original music by Tony Award winner Adam Cork, video design by Isaac Madge, and movement by Emily Jane Boyle. Casting is by Jim Carnahan and Maureen Kelleher, and U.K. casting is by Amy Ball. Sonia Friedman Productions, Roy Furman, and Lorne Michaels produce.
