Joy Woods Will Make Broadway Debut in SIX
The Little Shop of Horrors breakout will put on a crown starting March 14.
The royal court is welcoming a new queen this spring. Joy Woods will make her Broadway debut as Catherine Parr in Six, starting March 14. Anna Uzele, who originated the role in the U.S. during out-of-town tryouts and on the Main Stem, will play her final performance March 13. No reason was given for Uzele’s departure.
Woods most recently played Chiffon, one of the Urchins, in the Off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors. The breakout star has also appeared in Mack and Mabel at Encores! and Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical.
Six opened October 3, 2021, at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The current company stars Uzele as Parr, Adrianna Hicks as Catherine of Aragon, Andrea Macasaet as Anne Boleyn, Abby Mueller as Jane Seymour, Brittney Mack as Anna of Cleves, Samantha Pauly as Katherine Howard, and Anna Uzele as Catherine Parr. The cast also includes Keirsten Nicole Hodgens, Nicole Kyoung-Mi Lambert, Courtney Mack, and Mallory Maedke as alternates.
The musical, which follows the six wives of Henry VIII as they reclaim their narrative through an American Idol–style singing competition, is written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss and co-directed by Moss and Jamie Armitage.
