“This Time” David Lindsay-Abiare is a Tony Award winner! Lindsay-Abaire won the 2023 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for the incredible Kimberly Akimbo. The 2007 Pulitzer Prize winning writer was honored at the 2023 Tony Awards on the stage of the United Palace. Lindsay-Abaire beat out fellow nominees David West Read for & Juliet, David Thompson & Sharon Washington for New York, New York, Robert Horn for Shucked, and Matthew López & Amber Ruffin for Some Like It Hot.

David Lindsay-Abaire has written a number of Broadway plays and musicals: Rabbit Hole, High Fidelity, Shrek The Musical, and Good People prior to Kimberly Akimbo. He has previously been nominated for four Tony Awards, for Best Play for Rabbit Hole, Best Original Score Written For the Theatre and Best Book of a Musical for Shrek The Musical, and Best Play for Good People. He won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Rabbit Hole as well. Lindsay-Abaire has also written numerous projects for film and television, including the 2010 film adaptation of his play Rabbit Hole, Robots, Inkheart, Rise of the Guardians, Oz the Great and Powerful, and the 2015 remake of Poltergeist

Kimberly Akimbo follows a bright and funny Jersey teen, who happens to look like a 72-year-old lady. Forced to maneuver family secrets, borderline personalities, and possible felony charges, Kim is determined to find happiness in a world where not even time is on her side.
