Tony and Emmy winner Neil Patrick Harris will now play The Baker in the Encores! production of Into The Woods, replacing Christian Borle. The latter is departing due to availability.

As previously announced, Into The Woods begins performances May 4 for a two-week limited run, dedicated to the late composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim, who crafted the musical alongside book writer James Lapine.

Harris will star alongside Sara Bareilles as the Baker’s Wife, Heather Headley as the Witch, Denée Benton as Cinderella, Gavin Creel as The Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince, Jordan Donica as Rapunzel’s Prince, Julia Lester as Little Red Riding Hood, Cole Thompson as Jack, Ann Harada as Jack’s Mother, Annie Golden as Cinderella’s Mother/Grandmother/Giant’s Wife, Tiffany Denise Hobbs as Lucinda, Brooke Ishibashi as Florinda, Kennedy Kanagawa as Milky White, David Patrick Kelly as Narrator/Mysterious Man, Lauren Mitchell as Cinderella’s Stepmother, and David Turner as Steward. A community chorus of New York City seniors and public school students for the finale.

The musical is directed by Encores! Artistic Director Lear deBessonet, who will helm Disney's Hercules in 2023 at the Paper Mill Playhouse, with music direction by Encores! Music Director Rob Berman and choreography by Lorin Latarro.
