Where they’re going, they don’t need roads! Liana Hunt has been cast as Lorraine Baines McFly in the Broadway musical adaptation of Back to the Future. Joining her will be Jelani Remy as Goldie Wilson/Marvin Berry, Nathaniel Hackmann as Biff Tannen, Merritt David Janes as Strickland, and Mikaela Secada as Jennifer Parker.

They all join previously announced Casey Likes as Marty McFly opposite Tony winner Roger Bart as Emmett “Doc” Brown and Olivier nominee Hugh Coles as George McFly.

The ensemble will also include Amber Ardolino, Will Branner, Victoria Byrd, Brendon Chan, Kevin Curtis, Nick Drake, Samuel Gerber, Marc Heitzman, Kimberly Immanuel, Joshua Kenneth Allen Johnson, Hannah Kevitt, JJ Niemann, Becca Petersen, Emma Pittman, Jonalyn Saxer, Blakely Slaybaugh, Gabi Stapula, and Daryl Tofa.

Back to the Future begins previews June 30 and officially opens August 3 at the Winter Garden Theatre. The show features the new music by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard alongside classic songs from the movie including “The Power of Love” and “Johnny B. Goode.”

The U.K. production won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical after it premiered in London’s West End in 2021. An Original London Cast Recording is now available to stream on all music platforms.

Based on the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film, the musical has a book by Bob Gale, who co-wrote the screenplay with Robert Zemeckis. It follows Marty McFly, a teenager who is accidentally transported back to 1955 in a time-traveling vehicle invented by his friend, Dr. Emmett Brown aka “Doc.” Before he can return to present day, Marty must make sure his high school-aged parents fall in love in order to save his own existence.

Back to the Future (the movie) was released in 1985, starring Michael J. Fox as Marty and Christopher Lloyd as Doc. The film grossed $360.6 million at the box office worldwide.

The Broadway production is directed by John Rando and features set and costume design Tim Hatley, lighting by Tim Lutkin and Hugh Vanstone, sound by Gareth Owen, and video by Finn Ross, with choreography by Chris Bailey, musical supervision and arrangements by Nick Finlow, illusions by Chris Fisher, orchestrations by Ethan Popp and Bryan Crook, dance arrangements by David Chase, music direction by Ted Arthur, and casting by Tara Rubin.
