Hello, America; hello, gorgeous! The Broadway revival of Funny Girl will hit the road later this year with stops in over 30 North American cities, including Providence, Atlanta, and Detroit. The production will open September 9 at Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island. Additional tour cities, dates, and casting will be announced at a later date.

‍Funny Girl originally opened on Broadway April 24 at the August Wilson Theatre, starring Beanie Feldstein as Fanny and Jane Lynch as Mrs. Bryce; both performers left the show last summer, with Lea Michele and Tovah Feldshuh stepping in. Julie Benko plays Fanny at Thursday evening performances and serves as the understudy. Other current cast members include Tony nominees Ramin Karimloo as Nick Arnstein and Jared Grimes as Eddie Ryan.

The show features music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Bob Merrill. The original book by Isobel Lennart, from an original story by Miss Lennart, is revised by Harvey Fierstein. For the uninitiated, Funny Girl follows the life and career of Fanny Brice, a comedienne and performer who faced constant uphill battles as she became a bona fide star in the first half of the 20th century.

Directed by Michael Mayer, Funny Girl features choreography by Ellenore Scott and tap choreography by Ayodele Casel. Scenic design is by David Zinn, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kevin Adams, and sound design by Brian Ronan, and hair and wig design by Campbell Young Associates. The production also features music direction and supervision by Michael Rafter; casting by Jim Carnahan and Jason Thinger; orchestrations by Chris Walker; dance, vocal, and incidental music arrangements by Alan Williams; and additional arrangements by David Dabbon and Carmel Dean.

A Funny Girl New Broadway Cast Recording was released by Sony Masterworks Broadway in November, in partnership with Accidental Jacket Entertainment and Gemini Theatrical.
