After months of waiting with bated breath, the Tony Awards Administration Committee met yesterday to confirm the eligibility status of twenty Broadway productions for the 2022-2023 season. This was the first time this season that the Tony Awards Administration Committee met to decide the eligibility for the 76th Annual Tony Awards. 

Tony and Grammy Award winner and Academy and Emmy Award nominee Leslie Odom, Jr. will star in a new Broadway production of the classic American comedy Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch by Ossie Davis. Purlie Victorious will be staged by Tony-winner Kenny Leon who directed both Ohio State Murders and Topdog/Underdog earlier this season. This production which is currently scheduled to begin in late summer 2023 will mark Odom’s return to Broadway after winning the Tony for his legendary performance as “Aaron Burr” in Hamilton.

The One Night Only event will take place this March with all proceeds supporting the Entertainment Community Fund.

It’s time to pack your bags for Neverland! An all-new production of the Tony-winning classic Peter Pan will premiere at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in Saint Paul, MN this December before launching a national tour in February 2024 at the Hippodrome in Baltimore, MD. 

The musical, starring Ben Platt and Micaela Diamond, begins previews February 21 at the Jacobs Theatre.

Tony nominee Grey Henson will join the company of Shucked as a Storyteller when the new musical begins previews on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre on March 8, 2023. The musical features a book by Tony winner Robert Horn (Tootsie), a score by Grammy winners Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally.

The star has been in the Wicked family for over 13 years, having been a standby and tour lead for Elphaba in the past. 

The production reunites the Broadway star with director Michael Longhurst at Donmar Warehouse. 

The Tony-winning revival is set to visit over 25 cities across the 2023-2024 theatrical season. 

The breakout performer has been seen in Normal People and recently was cast in the film adaptation of Merrily We Roll Along. 

The Scottish folk theatre fable previously played a 2017 engagement in the same space. 

The bio-musical about Louis Armstrong will play in New Orleans and Chicago before heading to NYC. 

The winners will be revealed March 12 in a televised ceremony on ABC.
