Fresh off their Tony win for Ragtime, Lincoln Center Theater under the leadership of Artistic Director Lear DeBessonet has announced her second season programming LCT and boy is it filled to the brim with exciting productions that has something for everyone. On Broadway, LCT has announced two productions at Vivian Beaumont Theater including the first-ever revival of Aaron Sorkin’s A Few Good Men, starring Bradley Whitford and Tom Blyth, and directed by Tony winner Michael Arden. In the spring, deBessonet will direct the first Broadway revival of The Sound of Music in nearly 30 years, starring Tony nominee Jasmine Amy Rogers and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli. The new season at the Mitzi E. Newhouse commences this summer with the previously announced The Whoopi Monologues, directed by Whitney White and starring Dominique Fishback, Kecia Lewis, Danielle Pinnock, Kerry Washington, and Kara Young. The season continues this fall with August Wilson’s Seven Guitars, directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, who won his first-ever Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in the 1996 Broadway premiere of the same play. Following is the American premiere of Playing Burton – a play by Mark Jenkins about the legendary Welsh-born actor Richard Burton, starring Welsh-born actor Matthew Rhys. The final play of the season at the Newhouse is world premiere of Born in the Dirt, reuniting playwright Kimberly Belflower and Tony winning director Danya Taymor in their first collaboration since the sensation-causing, and Tony Award nominated, John Proctor is the Villain on Broadway.

Earlier today it was announced that Jocelyn Bioh’s hit play School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play, which will be directed by Tony nominee Whitney White, has found its company. The play, which premiered Off-Broadway at MCC in 2017 will land on Broadway at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre beginning Tuesday, September 8, and open Monday, September 28. The production will feature Lucia Aremu, Tony nominee Denée Benton, Tony winner Patina Miller, Theatrely31 alum Erin Morton, Nia Otchere-Sarfo, Jordan Rice, Jasmine Amy Rogers, and Heather Alicia Simms.

Based on the beloved movie classic that launched Julia Roberts’ career, this sparkling musical depicts best friends Kat, Daisy, and Jojo’s search for love and self-identity as they face life’s many unexpected twists and turns. Packed with chart-topping ‘80s and ‘90s hits, this new musical celebrates Mystic, Connecticut’s iconic pizza joint like never before. Mystic Pizza is based on the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Motion Picture with Story and Characters by Amy Holden Jones. The musical is written by Sandy Rustin (The Cottage) with Arrangements and Orchestrations by Carmel Dean (The Notebook).

Today it was announced that Audible and Together, the new theatrical partnership led by Sonia Friedman and Huge Jackman, have a new collaboration including two fully-produced plays, readings, panels, workshops, and more this spring. Headlined by two plays directed by Ian Rickson and presented in repertory – the New York premiere of Hannah Moscovitch’s Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes, with Ella Beatty and Hugh Jackman (April 28 – June 18), and Jen Silverman’s new adaptation of August Strindberg’s Creditors, with Liev Schreiber, Maggie Siff, and Justice Smith (May 10 – June 18) – the collaboration rounds out Audible Theater’s sixth off-Broadway season at the Minetta Lane Theatre, where the company has produced numerous live shows since 2018, and marks the debut stage productions for Friedman and Jackman’s recently announced company, TOGETHER. Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes and Creditors will also be recorded and released on Audible at a later date, extending their reach to millions of listeners around the world.

Today it was announced that The Queen of Versailles will play the St. James Theatre this fall, with performances beginning Wednesday, October 8, ahead of an official opening night on Monday, November 10. Following its out-of-town tryout at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre this past summer, Versailles will reunite Kristin Chenoweth and songwriter Stephen Schwartz on Broadway for the first time since Wicked. Chenoweth will star as Jackie Siegel and F. Murray Abraham will star as David Siegel. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Today the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League announced that Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award-winner Cynthia Erivo will host the 78th Annual Tony Awards, which will honor the incredibly artists of the 2024-2025 Broadway season. The ceremony will be broadcasted live to both coasts on Sunday, June 8, 2025 on CBS as well as Paramount+ beginning at 8pm ET. The Tony Awards returns to Radio City Music Hall this year after a few years away from the venue.
