Today, it was announced that the New York premiere production of The Heart with book and additional lyrics by Kait Kerrigan (The Great Gatsby), music and lyrics by Anne Eisendrath (aka electronic music artist Anniee) and Ian Eisendrath (KPop Demon Hunters), music supervision by Ian Eisendrath, choreography by Mandy Moore (Taylor Swift’s Eras tour) and direction by Tony Award-winner Christopher Ashley (Come From Away) based on Maylis de Kerangal's novel Réparer les vivants has found the cast.

It was recently announced that five-time Golden Globe Award nominee Marilu Henner and Shannon Purser (Barb from Stranger Things) will team up and star together on stage this fall in the Off-Broadway commercial premiere of The Ask, by Matthew Freeman and directed by Jessi D. Hill. The Ask had a previous run at The Wild Project back in 2024. This production marks Purser’s New York stage debut.

Reality star and 2026 Broadway Breakout Brunch honoree Whitney Leavitt is set to star as Sandra Dee in Just In Time at Circle in the Square Theatre for a limited six-week engagement beginning Tuesday, December 1, 2026 through Sunday, January 10, 2027. Leavitt made her Broadway debut earlier this year as Roxie Hart in Chicago and broke production and house-records.

Following Backlash, Geno Segers Will No Longer Join HADESTOWN On Broadway

Earlier this week, it was announced that Geno Segers was set to join the company of Hadestown as Hades on September 1 at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Following the news, many took to social media calling out the casting as it appears that Segers has personally posted anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric on his own social media, in now deleted videos. Today, the producers of Hadestown released a simple statement: “The producers of Hadestown and Geno Segers have mutually agreed that Mr. Segers will no longer join the Broadway production. Additional casting will be announced shortly.”The new company will feature television and film star Jasmin Savoy Brown as ‘Eurydice,’ two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz as ‘Hermes,’ Tony Award nominee Amber Iman as ‘Persephone,’ and pop-rock musician and songwriter Kayko as ‘Orpheus.

Today the Outer Critics Circle (OCC), the official organization of writers on New York theatre for out-of-town, national, and digital news publications, has announced the nominees for the 2025 Outer Critics Circle Awards, honoring the 2024-2025 Broadway and Off-Broadway season.
