Kara Young and Nicholas Braun Will Star in GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES Off-Broadway

Pulitzer Prize Finalist Rajiv Joseph’s Gruesome Playground Injuries will return to the New York stage in a new production starring Succession’s Nicholas Braun and two-time Tony Award winner Kara Young. The production will be directed by Neil Pepe.

Ice Berg Productions and Sierra Miliziano are set to bring Adam Wachter’s Tarrytown to New York for a limited engagement, with performances beginning October 16, 2025, at The Cell Theater running through October 25. This contemporary chamber musical reimagines Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow as a psychological queer love triangle set in modern-day upstate New York. Ichabod Crane, a music teacher rebuilding his life, finds himself entangled with Katrina and Brom Van Brunt in a ninety-minute story of longing, desire, and identity. With a witty and deeply melodic score, Wachter crafts a poignant exploration of small-town restlessness and the haunting pull of connection. The three-person company includes Andrew Cekala as Ichabod, Maya Sistruck as Katrina and Jake Goz as Brom.

There’s a new Zidler in town. Today producers announced that drag superstar Bob The Drag Queen will make his Broadway debut as Harold Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical beginning Tuesday, January 27, 2026 for an eight-week limited engagement through Sunday, March 22 at the Al Hirsfeld Theatre. Wayne Brady performs the role through Sunday, November 9th with Robert Petkoff, who currently plays Zidler on tour, joining the cast in the role from Tuesday, November 11th to Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Jesse Eisenberg’s The Ziegeld Files, directed by Pulitzer Prize finalist Shayok Misha Chowdhury, is coming to Studio Seaview with seven on-book performances October through December. Eisenberg’s new solo play, read by the actor, is presented between performances of Jordan Tannahill’s Prince Faggot.

The world of Silicon Valley is headed straight to Washing D.C. in Matthew Libby’s new suspenseful drama Data. Directed by Margot Bordelon, the play will premiere October 31, 2024 before an official opening night on November 7, 2024. Data will play a limited engamgnet at Arena Stage’s Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle theatre through December 15, 2024. More Succession stars are headed to the stage! Following a sold out, critically acclaimed run in the West End, Sarah Snook will make her Broadway debut playing 26 characters in the new production of The Picture of Dorian Gray. The stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s only novel is adapted and directed by Kip Williams, the Artistic Director of Sydney Theatre Company, where the production originated. The Picture of Dorian Gray will open at a Shubert theatre in March for a strictly limited engagement.

The circus is coming to an end. The Broadway premiere of Water for Elephants will be packing up its tent this December. The musical will play its final performance at the Imperial Theatre on Sunday, December 8, 2024. At time of closing, Water for Elephants will have played 25 previews and 301 regular performances.

Today it was announced that Riverdance 30 - The New Generation is headed back to Radio City Music Hall as part of the new anniversary production of the international Irish dance phenomenon for five performances only from Friday, March 28 through Sunday, March 30, 2025. This will be the first time the dance troupe is back at the famed Music Hall since 2020.

D’Amelio, who spent more than a decade as a competitive dancer before launching her social media career and becoming the world’s most followed TikToker, begins performances as part of the ensemble in the dance-heavy role of ‘Charmian’ beginning October 29, 2024 at the Sondheim Theatre (124 West 43rd Street) for a limited three-month engagement through January 19, 2025.

Romeo + Juliet starring Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler, which beings previews this Thursday, September 26, at Circle in the Square Theatre, is teaming up with Voters of Tomorrow, a Gen-Z led organization working to turn out young voters. Together, they are launching The Youth Are Voting, an initiative to boost voter registration and engagement ahead of the 2024 elections. The name plays off the show’s tagline, “the youth are f**ked.”

Center Theatre Group in Los Angels is joining forces with Deaf West Theatre to bring a new production of Green Day’s iconic rock opera American Idiot to the stage. As previous reported, The production will run October 2, 2024 through November 10, 2024, with an official opening night set for Wednesday, October 9 at the Mark Taper Forum. Daniel Durant returns to the stage after his star turn in the Academy-Award winning film CODA, which is also being adapted for the stage. The company also includes Milo Mannheim and Mason Alexander Park, the recent Emcee in the West End production of Cabaret.
