Theatre fans rejoice! The first-ever permanent museum dedicated to the history and legacy of Broadway musicals, plays, and theatres will open next summer at 145 West 45th Street, next to the Lyceum Theatre. From producer Julie Boardman and Diane Nicolette, The Museum of Broadway will offer guests a unique look at the rich history of Broadway, a sneak peek behind-the-scenes, and a chance to personally engage with the “Game-Changing” shows that redefined Broadway forever.

COME FROM AWAY has announced their full Broadway cast for a September 21 return.

The Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 production of Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu’s acclaimed, award-winning play Pass Over, directed by Obie Award winner Danya Taymor (“Daddy,” Heroes of the Fourth Turning) will move its opening night up to Sunday August 22, 2021, three weeks earlier than the previously announced opening date of Sunday September 12, 2021.

Beanie Feldstein will star as “Fanny Brice” in the first Broadway revival of Funny Girl. For the first time in 58 years, the new production directed by Michael Mayer will begin performances in spring 2022 at a Broadway theatre to be announced soon. When Funny Girl first premiered on Broadway in 1964, it went on to garner eight Tony Award nominations. 

Susan Hill’s The Woman in Black is headed back to the McKittrick Hotel, home of Sleep No More. Performances are set to begin October 21, with an opening night set for October 24. This production had a previous run at the McKittrick back in January of 2020. 

On September 17, Everybody is certainly going to be talking about something! Based off the hit West End musical, Amazon’s Everybody's Talking About Jamie will hit the streaming service next month. 

It was announced today that Tony winner Ivo van Hove’s latest revival of West Side Story will not reopen at the Broadway Theatre when in-person performances begin later this fall. The revival of the classic had begun performances on December 10, 2019 and was running up until the shutdown.

Today, producers Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold, and Tom Kirdahy announced casting for both the Broadway and North American touring productions of Hadestown, the Tony Award-winning Best New Musical and winner of the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, as the cast of the Broadway production gathers today for the production’s first post-shutdown rehearsal.

Nederlander and Tali Pelman, in association with Tina Turner, announce that Best Musical Tony Award nominee Tina - The Tina Turner Musical will star two-time Tony Award nominee and Olivier Award nominee Adrienne Warren in the title role for a limited engagement, Tony Award nominee Daniel J. Watts as Ike, Dawnn Lewis as Zelma, Nkeki Obi-Melekwe as Tina Turner at some performances, Tony Award nominee Myra Lucretia Taylor as Gran Georgeanna and Jessica Rush as Rhonda. Nominated for 12 Tony Awards, Tina - The Tina Turner Musical will reopen at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Friday, October 8, 2021.

Eugene O’Neill’s classic Long Day’s Journey into Night is headed to the Minetta Lane Theatre Off-Broadway in a new stage production that will be directed by Tony Award nominee Robert O’Hara and starring Bill Camp, Ato Blankson-Wood, and Elizabeth Marvel, produced by Audible.

Welcome, back, to the rock! Come From Away will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, September 10. Directed by Tony Award-winner Christopher Ashley, the filmed production stars an ensemble cast led by members of the Broadway show.

It’s looking like Joe’s Pie Diner is welcoming back some regulars when Waitress returns for a limited engagement beginning September 2, 2021 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. Joining the previously announced Sara Bareilles as Jenna, many returning actors will be joining the production including Eric Anderson (Cal) Charity Angel Dawson (Becky), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), Dakin Matthews (Joe) and Joe Tippett(Earl). Producers Carmen Pavlovic and Bill Damaschke are pleased to announce that Natalie Mendoza will join the Broadway company of Moulin Rouge! The Musical in the role of Satine when the Tony-nominated hit musical resumes performances on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. The full cast is now set for the show’s return.

GHOSTLIGHT RECORDS and TWO RIVER THEATER have announced that the label will record the new Joe Iconis musical Love in Hate Nation for an original cast album. The recording is based on the show’s world premiere production at the Two River Theater in 2019.

The Broadway League announced today that the owners and operators of all 41 Broadway theatres in New York City will require vaccinations for audience members, as well as performers, backstage crew, and theatre staff, for all performances through October 2021. Masks will also be required for audiences inside the theatre, except while eating or drinking in designated locations.

Announced today is the complete casting for the world premiere off-Broadway musical A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet. Starring as ‘Regina Comet’ is Bryonha Marie Parham (Prince of Broadway, “The SpongeBob Musical: Live on Stage!”), who will be joined by A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet creators Alex Wyse (“Indoor Boys”, Spring Awakening) and Ben Fankhauser (Newsies, Beautiful) to complete the cast.

Producer Jeffrey Seller today announced Broadway casting for Hamilton when performances resume September 14, 2021 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. In addition, the Richard Rodgers box office will reopen on August 2, 2021 at 10:00 am.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee announced today that Tony Award nominated director and choreographer Graciela Daniele will be the 2020 recipient of the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.

PASS OVER announced today it will hold a block party on West 52nd Street in celebration of its first preview, and the first performance of a play on Broadway since March 2020, on Wednesday August 4 outside of the August Wilson Theatre.
