Emmy & Tony Award winner Laurence Fishburne, Academy Award & Golden Globe winner Sam Rockwell and Emmy Award & Golden Globe winner Darren Criss will star in the Broadway revival of David Mamet’s American Buffalo, directed by Neil Pepe (Speed-the-Plow, A Life in the Theatre). The production will officially open at the Circle in the Square Theatre on Wednesday, April 14, 2022, exactly two years after it was originally scheduled to open, for a strictly limited 16-week engagement. Performances for American Buffalo will begin the week of March 22, 2022

It’s time to fall in love with love all over again. This morning, it was announced that the Rodgers and Hart-John O’Hara classic musical Pal Joey will be headed back to the Great White Way in the 2022-2023 season. The team behind this brand-new and reimagined production includes Richard LaGravenese (new book), co-directors Tony Goldwyn and Savion Glover, choreographer Savion Glover, set designer Derek McLane, costume designer Emilio Sosa, lighting designer Natasha Katzand orchestrator/arranger/music supervisor Daryl Waters.

James Bond himself Daniel Craig will be returning to the Great White Way opposite Ruth Negga who makes her Broadway debut in a new production of Macbeth directed by Sam Gold. Arriving at the Lyceum Theatre on March 29, 2022 before an official opening on April 28, 2022, the production will feature scenic design by Christine Jones, costume design by Suttirat Larlarb, lighting design by Jane Cox, sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman, original music by Gaelynn Lea, special effects design by Jeremy Chernick, and fight direction by David Leong.

Girl From The North Country is finally making its way back to Broadway on October 13, and we officially have casting for when it returns to the Belasco Theatre early next month. Colin Bates will be joining the cast in the role of Gene Laine alongside previous cast members Todd Almond, Jeannette Bayardelle, Jennifer Blood, Matthew Frederick Harris, Caitlin Houlahan, Robert Joy, Marc Kudisch, Luba Mason, Ben Mayne, Matt McGrath, Tom Nelis, Jay O. Sanders, John Schiappa, Austin Scott, Kimber Elayne Sprawl, Rachel Stern, Chiara Trentalange, Bob Walton, Chelsea Lee Williams, and Mare Winningham. Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of André Bishop) has announced that it will produce Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning The Skin of our Teeth this spring at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. The production, which will coincide with the 125th anniversary of Mr. Wilder’s birth, and which will mark the Beaumont and Broadway debuts of LCT Resident Director Lileana Blain-Cruz, will begin previews Thursday, March 31 and open on Monday, April 25.

Jeremy O. Harris’ historic drama Slave Play will return with a special engagement at Broadway’s August Wilson Theatre on November 23, 2021 with an official opening night slated for December 2, 2021. The play will run a strictly limited eight-week engagement through January 23, 2022.

It is “So Exciting” is it not?! Moulin Rouge! The Musical has won Best Musical at the 74th Annual Tony Awards. The Alex Timbers spectacular premiered at the Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston, MA in 2018, and opened officially on Broadway in 2019 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Moulin Rouge! The Musical beat out fellow Best Musical nominees Jagged Little Pill and Tina: The Tina Turner Musical. The show was nominated for 14 awards at this year’s ceremony.

The Inheritance has won Best Play at the 74th Annual Tony Awards. The play premiered in London at the Young Vic in 2018, and opened on Broadway in 2019 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

A Soldier’s Play has won Best Revival of a Play at the 74th Annual Tony Awards.

Adrienne Warren has won Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for her performance as Tina Turner in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.

Mary-Louise Parker has won Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for her performance as Bella in The Sound Inside.

Aaron Tveit has won Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for his performance as Christian in Moulin Rouge! The Musical. This is his first Tony nomination and win.

Andrew Burnap has won Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for his performance as Toby Darling in The Inheritance.

Alex Timbers has won Best Direction of a Musical at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for his direction of Moulin Rouge! The Musical. This is his first Tony Award win and third nomination. He was previously nominated for the Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (2011) and was also nominated for Best Direction of a Play for his co-direction with Roger Rees on Peter and the Starcatcher (2012).

Stephen Daldry has won Best Direction of a Play at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for his direction of The Inheritance. This is Daldry’s third Tony Award nomination and win. He previously won the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play in 1994 for his direction of An Inspector Calls, and the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical in 2009 for his direction of Billy Elliot the Musical. 

Sonya Tayeh has won Best Choreography at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for her choreography for Moulin Rouge! The Musical. This is her first nomination and win.

Katie Kresek, Charlie Rosen, Matt Stine & Justin Levine have won Best Orchestrations at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for their work on Moulin Rouge! The Musical. This is everyone’s first Tony nomination and win. 

Christopher Nightingale has won Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics Written for the Theatre) at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for his incidental music for A Christmas Carol. This is his second Tony nomination and first win. He was previously nominated for Best Orchestrations for Matilda the Musical.

Simon Baker has won Best Sound Design of a Play at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for his work on A Christmas Carol. This is his third nomination and first win. He was nominated for his work on Boeing-Boeing and Brief Encounter.

Peter Hylenski has won Best Sound Design of a Musical at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for his work on Moulin Rouge! The Musical. This is his eighth Tony nomination and first win. He was previously nominated for his work on Rock of Ages, The Scottsboro Boys, Motown the Musical, After Midnight, Once on This Island, King Kong, and Beetlejuice.

Justin Townsend has won Best Lighting Design in a Musical at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for his work on Moulin Rouge! The Musical. This is his fourth nomination and first win. He has previously been nominated for his work on The Humans and American Psycho.

Catherine Zuber has won Best Costume Design of a Musical at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for her work on Moulin Rouge! The Musical. This is her 15th nomination and eighth win. She has previously won for her work on The Light in the Piazza, Awake and Sing!, The Coast of Utopia, South Pacific, The Royal Family, The King and I, and My Fair Lady. She has been nominated for her work on Twelfth Night, Dinner at Eight, Seascape, Born Yesterday, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Golden Boy, and War Paint.

Derek McLane wins Best Scenic Design of a Play at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for his work on Moulin Rouge! The Musical. This is his sixth nomination and second win. He has previously won for his work on 33 Variations. He has been nominated for his work on The Pajama Game, Ragtime, and Anything Goes.

Hugh Vanstone has won Best Lighting Design in a Play at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for his work on A Christmas Carol. This is his fifth nomination and second win. He previously won for his work on Matilda the Musical in 2013. He has also been nominated for his work on Spamalot, Mary Stuart, and Ghost the Musical.

Rob Howell has won Best Costume Design of a Play at the 74th Annual Tony Awards for his work on A Christmas Carol. This is his 12th nomination and fourth win.
