THE PASS To Make US Debut Off-Broadway This Summer

Twelve Years. Three Hotel Rooms. One Goal. It was announced today that John Donnelly’s The Pass will have its US Premiere in a new production directed by Max Hunter. The play will begin performances on Thursday, July 30 at La Mama, with an opening night scheduled for Monday, August 3. The show will play a limited five-week run. The play premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2014. A hotel room in Eastern Europe, 2014. On the eve of their first Champions League match, two rising British football stars find themselves facing something neither preseason training nor media coaching could prepare them for.

This Pride Month, The House of Xtravaganza is throwing the Love Is Imagination Pride Mini Ball in partnership with TSQ LIVE giving us a first look at Xtravaganza, a new original musical inspired by the legendary House and Ballroom pioneers. The event takes place Wednesday, June 24, from 5-6pm in Times Square at 46th Street and Broadway. The event marks a major milestone for the production. Tickets officially go on sale beginning June 24, 2026, for the world premiere engagement of Xtravaganza at Baltimore Center Stage, where the musical will open in May 2027.

MYSTIC PIZZA To Launch National Tour This Fall

Pass the Pepperoni! Today, it was announced that Mystic Pizza: A New Musical will launch a national tour this September starting at the Clemens Center in Elmira, New York. Based on the beloved movie classic that launched Julia Roberts’ career, this sparkling musical depicts best friends Kat, Daisy, and Jojo’s search for love and self-identity as they face life’s many unexpected twists and turns. Packed with chart-topping ‘80s and ‘90s hits, this new musical celebrates Mystic, Connecticut’s iconic pizza joint like never before. Mystic Pizza is based on the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Motion Picture with Story and Characters by Amy Holden Jones. The musical is written by Sandy Rustin (The Cottage) with Arrangements and Orchestrations by Carmel Dean (The Notebook).

Following its sold-out, twice-extended run at St. Luke’s Theatre, New York Times critic’s pick production of Eliya Smith’s Dad Don’t Read This will transfer to Greenwich House Theater for a strictly limited engagement, June 17 – July 11, 2026. Directed by Chloe Claudel, this co-production is produced by Try For Baby Productions and The Goat Exchange. The show features performances by Drama Desk winner Amalia Yoo (John Proctor is the Villain), Renée-Nicole Powell (Grief Camp), Sophie Rossman, and Kayta Thomas. Dad Don’t Read This is set to open at Greenwich House Theater (27 Barrow St) on Tuesday, June 23. Tickets are now on sale at www.daddontreadthis.com.Runyonland Productions, which was recently honored at Theatrely’s 2026 Broadway Breakout Brunch, have joined the transfer as Executive Producers.

World Premiere Musical UNORTHODOX from Harmon, Pasek, and Taub Headed To The Huntington; Full 26/27 Season Announced

In an era where regional theatre seasons are looking bleaker and bleaker, the Huntington in Boston has come out strong with a bold 2026/2027 season including new world premieres putting Boston on the map. Next April will see the world premiere of Unorthodox based on the best-selling memoir written by Deborah Feldman. Three Broadway heavy hitters are helming the new musical including composer Benj Pasek (EGOT winner, Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, Only Murders in the Building); composer Shaina Taub (two-time Tony winner for Suffs); and playwright Joshua Harmon (Tony nominated for Prayer for the French Republic). Jordan Fein, who’s daring Into The Woods at London’s Bridge Theatre turned into one of my favorite performances this year, is set to direct.
